EYM2011 PRESS RELEASE

This year, European Youth Meeting for Sustainable Development 2011 will take place in Tallinn from 19th of July to 24th of July on the theme of youth involvement in sustainable development.

 

The purpose of the European Youth Meeting is to put young people at the heart of sustainable development agenda and re-ignite young people’s understanding of, the term ‘sustainable development’ – raising awareness of it, and educating about its meaning while at the same time encouraging governments and inter-governmental agencies to see youth as a powerful asset to their efforts. The Meeting will include delegates, representatives of youth organisations and invited experts, decision-makers and government officials from all around Europe and the programme includes panel discussions, workshops and a cultural dimension. 100+ participants are expected from around 40 countries around Europe and among the invited are representatives of international institutions like Council of Europe, European Commission, different UN Agencies and local experts and leaders in environmental, economic and societal development issues

 

The Meeting is organised by an International Organisational Committee from 10 countries (UK, France, Holland, Italy, Belgium, Estonia, Latvia, Moldova, Turkey and Russia) and partners from 17 countries. Call for participants was launched on 20th January 2011, with an application deadline of Thursday, 31st March 2011 (12.00 pm CET).  Calls are also open for those who wish to participate as facilitators or volunteers.
